Irene Hofhuis has specialised in property law, with a focus on tenancy law. Irene is well versed in both rental law for commercial premises, such as shops, hotels and offices, and rental law for residential premises.

Irene advises and litigates on all aspects of tenancy law and has years of experience in cases involving (inter alia) defects, rent reviews, demolition and renovation, shopping centre reclassifications, lease terminations and in negotiating new leases. Irene acts for both tenants and landlords and has a good overview of the interests involved.

In addition, Irene has extensive experience in cases on other aspects of (real estate) law, such as on sale and purchase and nonconformity, flat rights, rights in rem and neighbourhood law.


Irene likes to sort things out thoroughly to get a case all the way through and then achieve the best results with and for her clients.


Its clients include investors, retailers and other parties dealing with rental and leasing and other real estate issues.


Irene regularly publishes articles, enjoys teaching and is a regular contributor to the 'Tijdschrift voor Huurrecht Bedrijfsruimte' (Journal of Tenancy Law Business Space).

the formation of lease and cooperation agreements between owners of hotel properties and prospective hotel operators.

Advising and litigating

in various cases on the division of responsibilities between landlord and tenant with regard to the legal requirements for fire safety of the leased property and other administrative regulations such as with regard to on-site zoning.

Advising

an investor on the rezoning of a shopping centre and the agreements to be made with the current and new tenants for that purpose regarding lease termination, relocation of retail spaces and new leases, and supervising the negotiations with all parties involved from start to finish

Litigate

for both buyers and sellers of real estate in matters of nonconformity in a real estate transaction, related to foundation issues and other factual and/or legal defects.
